10 Planned Parenthood Lies Every Pro-Choice Person Should Condemn

Cutting waste out of the federal and state budgets is not just popular sentiment, but a necessity in the face of unsustainable debt. We are going to run out of other people’s money. Not only are the wasteful programs going to have to go, but some of the useful and popular ones too. The sacrifice the Obamas prattled endlessly about during the 2008 presidential campaign is actually here but it’s not what they had in mind. The sacred cows of the Left are no longer sacred. ACORN was defunded following their exposure as ethics-challenged tax evaders, NPR is now under scrutiny, and Planned Parenthood should face the same fate due to the pattern of lawbreaking and lying that seems to be a corporate policy.
Abortion is a touchy issue with high emotions on both sides, but it is important to understand that it will not go away with the defunding of Planned Parenthood. Even the most pro-choice person should be able to look at the following facts about Planned Parenthood and see that our tax money should not be wasted on such blatant disregard for the law and safety of women. The following list details the ten most despicable lies told by Planned Parenthood which should end taxpayer subsidies forever.

10. Lying to Cities To Get Permits Without “Trouble” From Taxpayers
In Aurora, Illinois, a mysterious medical center started construction. The building was nearly complete when a construction worker started to get suspicious of the bullet proof glass and the operating rooms they were installing. When he reported what he had seen to others, people began to dig. The building was owned by a company called Gemini which turned out to be a front company for Planned Parenthood. The building would be the largest abortion mill in the country.
The citizens of the town were horrified and livid that they had not been notified as was their legal right since Planned Parenthood is a “non-profit” organization, and as such, has to apply for a special use permit which requires a notice to be posted in the paper so the taxpayers can voice any objections.
Planned Parenthood never applied for the permit. Instead, they set up a front “for-profit” false company to apply for private permits. This, of course, was illegal. According to permit laws, the entire building should have been torn down due to the subterfuge. (Believe me, if some poor sap doesn’t file for the right permit for the addition on his house and the city finds out they will tear it down, no doubt about it.) Steve Trombley, the Planned Parenthood President of the Chicago area knew what he was doing was deceptive and he did it purposefully to hoodwink the taxpayers of Aurora.
“Frankly, I’m surprised we were able to keep it a secret for so long,” said Steve Trombley, president and chief executive officer of Planned Parenthood/Chicago Area…. “We didn’t want anything to interfere with the opening… and, at this point, I don’t anticipate anything will stop that from happening.”
Yeah, it really would have sucked if angry homeowners whose property values plummeted overnight showed up and stopped your abortion party, Steve. As much as Planned Parenthood tries to convince America that there’s nothing wrong with their butcher shops, very few people would want to move next door to one. (I’d rather live next to a nuclear plant.) Trombley succeeded in opening his abortion mill because the building was so far along and he had sympathetic ears on the board. But if he hadn’t skirted the law applied for the proper permit, he would have had a much harder road and at least the citizens of Aurora would have had their say.

9. Lying To The State: Planned Parenthood Hides Illegal Activity Like Under Age Prostitution
If you don’t know who Lila Rose is, you will soon. This firebrand founder of Live Action has been a thorn in the side of Planned Parenthood since she was fifteen. Her undercover investigations have been the reason many states have voted to defund Planned Parenthood and national defunding can’t be far behind. Recently, Live Action activists posed as a pimp and a prostitute and visited a PP office to inquire about their services for their underage and illegal prostitutes. Not only did the PP administrator not throw them out of her office and call the authorities, she agreed to speed their under aged minors through for extra cash. Take the ten minutes to watch the video. Is this where our tax dollars should go?

8. Lying To The State Part II: Failing To Report Child Abuse
One of Live Action’s first stings included Lila Rose posing as a minor impregnated by an adult. In every case, the PP staff by law is required to report such a situation to the authorities because it is statutory rape. At no time during any of the stings (and there were several) did any PP employee follow the law. Instead they instructed her not to tell them the age of the man, showed her where her abuser could take her across state lines for an abortion, instructed her not to tell anyone else about his age and basically sent her right back to her abuser. Perhaps one of the worst moments is when one of the PP employees admits to Rose that the law says they have to report instances of adult/minor sex. They aren’t ignorant of the law, they’re just breaking it.

7. Lying to Women About the Health Risks of Abortions
Planned Parenthood has been caught on tape telling women that abortion will not affect their ability to become pregnant again. They have also told women that women don’t die from abortions and that having an abortion is safer than having a baby. I’m not sure where they got their statistics for this and it might be true if you’re talking about early abortions vs. full term births. I did not find information to support or refute this claim. However, the risks of abortions are very serious and very real and PP representatives don’t give their clients the facts. Bleeding, infection, damage to organs (perforated uterus, etc. can lead to a total hysterectomy,) and death are the most common risks. While they mention these risks on the PP website, they brush off the seriousness of it by suggesting you can just take some antibiotics if any of these things should happen to you.
Most often, these complications are simple to treat with medicine or other treatments.
Abortion is not like getting your teeth cleaned (as some femisogynists would have you believe). It is an operation that can seriously injure or scar a woman for life. One wrong move by the abortionist and the patient may never have children. Abortion is a serious risk and women should be given all the information before they elect to endanger their health and their lives. PP should not be allowed to tell women abortion is “safe.” During one of Live Action’s projects Lila Rose goes undercover again and asks, is abortion safe? The answer is a resounding yes! There is no discussion of possible risks, bleeding, infection or death. I’m sure they hand a scared girl a consent form written in tiny font that is three pages long including these facts, but does she read it? Probably not after hearing the nurse tell her it’s safer than giving birth.
PP: Oh yeah. It’s a very safe procedure. It’s actually safer than carrying to term.
Rose: The abortion won’t hurt me from having more kids in the future will it?
PP: Nope.
First, there’s no way that person can know that because it’s a risky surgery. The patient could develop an infection that could sterilize her. Furthermore, there is evidence that says miscarriages are more likely after abortion and so are premature births. But PP doesn’t show their patients those studies.
Another outrageous dereliction of duty in providing information is PP’s refusal to admit that some women suffer mental anguish after having an abortion. They’ve fought so hard to deny the women who have post-abortion depression a voice, it’s almost absurd. The American Psychological Association, which is full of leftists, has produced studies that say post-abortion stress is no different than any other stress, you know, like sitting in traffic. Another PP representative told Live Action that the earlier you have an abortion, the less stressful it is. Of course, she offered no proof of this theory.
The earlier you make the decision the better, you know, it won’t stress you out as much and it won’t cause any, you know, and it actually does affect the price…it’s cheaper the earlier along you are.
Well that’s some scientific information.
If you want to know if abortion depression is real just read the personal stories from women and men who have been through it. It is important to note that The American Psychological Association made headlines for publishing an article examining the benefits of adult/child sex. Needless to say, anything they come up with should be treated with a healthy dose of skepticism and latex gloves.

6. Lying To Women About Fetal Development
The pro-choice defenders always say they want women to have factual, scientific information upon which to make their decision. This is something about which the pro-life movement heartily agrees, but has doubts about whether PP is serious about “educating” women. In several cases, Live Action captured PP giving out medically false information in order to persuade women to have abortions (the only choice which PP approves). In one case, the PP representative told a woman that her 7 week old fetus had “no arms, no legs, no head and no brain,” all of which are demonstrably false. Another PP representative told her that there are “heart tones” early on but no “heart beat” until much further on. There is no such medical term as “heart tones.” They just made that one up.
The factual, scientific information is that the fetal heartbeat begins 3 weeks and 1 day after conception. In the same videos you hear them constantly repeating that a fetus is not a baby with different answers to when a fetus becomes a baby. One person says birth, but the doctor says 6 or 7 months. A fetus is not a baby the same way a toddler is not a teen and a teen is not an adult. A fetus is not a Venus Flytrap! Since humans reproduce after their own kind, it is an outrageous lie to insist that a fetus isn’t human offspring. It couldn’t be anything else.
Planned Parenthood doesn’t want to give out factual information because the facts discourage women from having abortions. Science is not on the abortionists’ side and the more we learn about fetal development and are able to peer into the womb, the more it is evident that a fetus is not just a clump of cells or tissue, but a delicately formed and perfect tiny human in the critical stage of development. You were once a fetus.

5. Lying About Margaret Sanger and Her Dream To Exterminate Black People
Not many would argue that birth control isn’t a good thing. Some of us have our problems with the pill because it can be an abortifacient, but other less controversial methods of birth control are widely accepted even in Christian communities. (The Catholics, not so much.) But most people do recognize that married people have the right to decide when to start a family. The family planning aspect of Planned Parenthood was never really in question. What bothers most people is the extermination of family members advocated by PP.
Margaret Sanger is the founder of PP whose name graces the Planned Parenthood award handed out every year. If you read her Wikipedia entry, you would think she was Mother Theresa to the downtrodden women who couldn’t figure out how to stop getting pregnant. While her efforts might have been admirable in working with women to help them utilize birth control, her life’s work took her in a different direction which included advocating for race-based and ability-based eugenics. Most of the publications in which she wrote are hard to obtain because of the age of the items. But if you research online you will find the same quotes attributed to Sanger over and over again that somehow always get left off the Planned Parenthood history lesson.
We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population,” she said, “if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members.” (Woman’s Body, Woman’s Right: A Social History of Birth Control in America, by Linda Gordon)
Well isn’t that special? We have members of the Congressional Black Caucus arbitrarily calling the Tea Party racists with no evidence whatsoever, but PP’s favorite daughter wanted to “exterminate the Negro population.” This is not new information. It’s been out there since Sanger published it, but no one cares because her baby, PP, is implanted so far in the Democrat womb there’s no getting it out, even with its racist beginnings. Sanger’s other hideous thoughts have been well recorded, even though none of them are printed in PP pamphlets. What does it say about an organization who has built itself around a woman who believed infants to be the enemies of families?
“The most merciful thing that a large family does to one of its infant members is to kill it.” (Margaret Sanger, Women and the New Race, Eugenics Publ. Co., 1920, 1923)
Clearly, this woman was unstable and probably diabolical, but the Left in America holds her up as a hero. Black Americans should be outraged that an award still exists with her name on it when she openly spoke for the Women’s Auxiliary of the Ku Klux Klan. The irony that black women are willingly walking into the Margaret Sanger Center in New York by the thousands to carry out Sanger’s racist dreams is enough to make your head explode. Instead, the black community spends their time getting angry at Trent Lott for giving a nice birthday toast to Strom Thurmond.
If blacks want to fight actual racism, they might want to look to the Left.

4. Lying About Motives and The Almighty Dollar
You’ll hear it over and over again at any pro-choice website or rally. Abortion providers are selfless heroes who care nothing for their own finances, safety or health. They do it for the women. It’s all about their patients and has nothing to do with the money.
Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) recently achieved the status of a billion-dollar industry: between the fiscal years 2003 and 2008, abortion expanded from an 810 million dollar business to 1.038 billion-dollar industry, breaking the billion dollar revenue mark…
What does a “nonprofit” business do with a billion dollars exactly? Could it be paying those selfless abortionists big salaries? But even more sinister is the idea of pimping birth control to teens in the first place. Birth control has a failure rate, especially among the immature who aren’t responsible enough to use it properly. Vicki Evans who works for the Archdiocese of San Francisco authored a study to find out how the abortion industry was affecting other companies that are now connected with them like cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.
One way that PPFA brings in the money, she notes, is through clinical trials conducted with pharmaceutical companies to develop new contraceptives. Evans pointed out that encouraging sexual activity among youth through contraception is simply a gateway mechanism for increasing abortion – which is where the profit is.
“Attracting teenagers to contraceptive use is a component of the abortion industry’s business plan, as is offering abortion as a remedy for failed birth control,” she wrote.
And everybody knows birth control fails (just ask my parents, or yours for that matter.) The idea of “safe” sex is a total fabrication. There’s nothing safe about it. It’s a risk! No matter how many forms of birth control you use, you still risk a pregnancy each and every time you have sex (and itchy and painful STDs). Beyond abortions, profit can be made from the sale of fetal tissue.
[T]he cosmetics industry, Evans noted, first began using “fetal cell technologies” for the ostensible “hard case” of treating burn victims. This, in turn, led into developing creams, emulsions, serums, face-lifts, and other cosmetic procedures (such as for skin rejuvenation) for the $30 billion anti-aging market.
Well that’s the last time I buy eye cream without grilling the girl behind the counter on what the heck is in it! Is there anyone callous enough to think aborted fetuses belong on your face?

3. Lying About Services: It’s Not Really About “Women’s Health”
The most recent Live Action project involved debunking PP’s claim that if defunded by congress, millions of women will lose their access to cancer screenings and mammograms. Lila Rose smelled the pungent aroma of bull hockey on that one and decided to make a few calls (with the tape recorder running.) This one really doesn’t need much explanation. Just watch the video. The next time someone sanctimoniously tells you that PP is essential to women’s health, show them this video. They don’t even know what a mammogram is.

The icing on the cake though was liberal blogger Lee Stranahan who called Media Matters out on their horrible reporting of this story and their refusal to print a retraction for insisting that PP does offer mammograms. Stranahan’s video response is fabulous. Enjoy.

Stranahan is pro-choice and is the type of intellectually honest person we need in this debate. It’s the lying liars who are keeping the debate from being productive.

2. Lying About Why Abortions Are Done
Finding unbiased sources for abortion statistics is nearly impossible. That said, I would be willing to bet my life savings that the vast majority of abortions in this country are done as a form of birth control. The Guttmacher Institute, which is the research wing of Planned Parenthood, put out numbers in 2004 that showed over 70% of abortions are a form of birth control citing reasons from not having enough money to interfering with education. Only 1% were instances of rape and only 13% birth defects. Considering these numbers, you would think when advocating for funding from congress, Planned Parenthood would call on one of their customers who just really wanted to go to school instead of be a mommy to testify about the greatness of abortion.
That’s not who they want to hear from, of course.
Hoping to promote the Senate health care bill that funds abortions and could direct millions more to its abortion centers, Planned Parenthood is looking for stories from women of hard cases where they felt they needed an abortion for medical reason to give it a new lobbying tool.
Planned Parenthood officials sent the request via Twitter to its pro-abortion followers.
“Now more than ever, we are fighting to protect women’s health and ensure access to safe abortion,” the group claimed.
“Help us tell the real story. Your story. Right now, Congress needs to hear from women who have experienced wanted pregnancies where there was a severe health risk to the fetus, causing the women to choose abortion,” the abortion business continued.
With only 13% of abortions happening because of tragic occurrences, those stories are few and far between. The vast majorities of abortions are performed babies are not convenient. But that story isn’t going to make anyone sympathetic enough to hand PP billions of dollars.

1. Lying About What Abortion Is
Perhaps the worst part about the entire discussion is the refusal by one side to admit what it is we’re actually talking about. While the pro-life side says, “Hey! This is human life!” the other side says, “No it isn’t,” and refuses to debate. But science and technology don’t lie. There are a few intellectually honest pro-choicers out there who start their argument from an “Okay, this is the ending of life, but here’s why I support its legality.” Give me a nation full of those kind of people! There is room for this debate. It needs to happen, but when one side is refusing to acknowledge that water is wet how do you move the conversation forward?
The best conversation starter I’ve seen is Gianna Jesson, abortion survivor. It’s pretty hard to look her in the face and explain to her why you think she should have been killed and that other babies just like her should face that fate. The following is a true story that happened on the floor of the Colorado congress thanks to Representative Ted Harvey. After hearing his congress was going to celebrate Planned Parenthood’s 90th anniversary, Harvey felt compelled to act. He brought Gianna Jesson to session with him. Before they began he slipped the speaker a note to ask if Jesson, who has cerebral palsy, could sing the national anthem. She stunned the session with her beautiful voice. Harvey then told her amazing story of overcoming her disease and the many accomplishments she’s achieved. After the entire congress was in awe of this girl, Harvey asked for the floor one more time to finish the story.
“The cause of Gianna’s cerebral palsy is not because of some biological freak of nature, but rather the choice of her mother. You see when her biological mother was 17-years-old and 7-and-a-half months pregnant, she went to a Planned Parenthood clinic to seek a late-term abortion. The abortionist performed a saline abortion on this 17-year-old girl. This procedure requires the injection of a high concentration of saline into the mother’s womb, which the fetus is then bathed in and swallows, which results in the fetus being burned to death, inside and out. Within 24 hours the results are normally an induced, still-born abortion.
As Gianna can testify, the procedure is not always 100 percent effective. Gianna is an aborted late-term fetus who was born alive. The high concentration of saline in the womb for 24 hours resulted in a lack of oxygen to her brain and is the cause of her cerebral palsy. Members, today, we are going to recognize the 90th anniversary of Rocky Mountain Planned Parenthood…
BANG! The gavel came down.
Just as I was finishing the last sentence of my speech — the climax of the morning — the speaker of the House gaveled me down and said, “Representative Harvey, I will allow you to continue your introduction, but not for the purposes of debating a measure now pending before the House.”
At which point I said,
Mr. Speaker, I understand. I just wanted to put a face to what we are celebrating today.
Silence. Deafening silence.
When faced with the truth of what abortion is even the staunchest defenders are silent. And silence isn’t what we need right now but an open and honest discussion.
