North Korea Super-EMP Weapon

March 11, 2013
Ken Jorgustin

North Korea may possess, or may be in the advanced stages of developing a Super EMP weapon. As the U.S., pundits and media continue to downplay every threat made by Kim Jong Un and North Korea, there is little doubt by some experts that they are working feverishly towards furthering their nuclear capability and a position of dominance whereby they can proclaim the ability to strike a lethal blow to the United States.
To ascertain an opinion of what may really be happening there, look into what they have been doing and what they are doing, rather than what others say they are not doing. After all, if a threat such as this is real, we will likely not hear about it from our political establishment. No need to panic the sheeple… at least until the lights go out…

What is electromagnetic pulse?

EMPactAmerica.org defines it as the following.
Electromagnetic pulse (EMP) is a high-intensity burst of electromagnetic energy. An EMP can be caused by a natural event like a severe solar storm or a malicious act using a weapon like a high-altitude nuclear burst. National experts have concluded that consequences of a natural or man-made EMP event could be long-lasting, continent-wide and cripple the U.S. critical electricity-dependent infrastructures, which are highly vulnerable and largely unprotected. An EMP can paralyze, perhaps beyond recovery, the national critical infrastructures (power, communications, transportation, banking and finance, food and water) that sustain modern civilization and the lives of the American people.
Some agree that a sufficiently high altitude EMP burst could bring down the electrical high-tech infrastructure and power grid of the continental 48, resulting in the eventual deaths of up to 80% of the U.S. population. With a seemingly outrageous assertion like that, one might be foolish to outright ignore it without at least a reality check or risk assessment.
There are a number of high level reports that have been generated which discuss the issue of EMP and its potential impacts on America, including the following.
EMP Commission Executive Report (2004)
EMP Commission Final Report (2008)
EMP High Impact Event Risk to the North American Bulk Power System (2009)
EMP Study Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (2010)
EMP Military Planning for a Catastrophic Critical Infrastructure Event (2011)
Power grid failure scenarios and the high altitude EMP (HEMP) threat is not science fiction. It is real. While many may agree that such an act of War would bring on mutually assured destruction to the aggressor, many would also agree that some of the aggressors, terrorists and rogue states in this world are not of sound mind, at least according to our own perceptions and definitions. Many are willing to sacrifice themselves and die for their beliefs and motivations.

Dr. Peter Vincent Pry, who holds two Ph.D.s (in International Relations and U.S. History) and a certificate in nuclear weapons design from the USAF Weapons Laboratory, recently wrote of his concerns in an article published on FamilySecurityMatters.org, Understanding North Korea and Iran, in which he spells out what North Korea has been ‘doing’, and the potential threats thereof.

North Korea’s Nuclear Program

Summary of Dr. Pry’s statements…

Nuclear test, October 2006
Nuclear test, May 2009
Successful long-range missile test, December 2012
Successful nuclear test, February 2013
The justification for North Korea (and Iran) being a non-threat is from the false notion that North Korea has not successfully miniaturized nuclear warheads for missile delivery, that they are intending to develop higher yield warheads for conventional destruction, and that they are pursuing a nuclear missile warhead.
According to Dr. Pry, “Miniaturization to develop a nuclear warhead is not difficult to do, and can be accomplished even without nuclear testing.”; “North Korea and Iran both have strategic reasons to mislead and conceal from the West the true status of their nuclear and missile programs. They intend that the U.S. and its allies will underestimate those programs, fail to act in time to stop them, and be strategically surprised when North Korea and Iran become nuclear super-powers,”
Nuclear testing is not necessary to develop nuclear weapons, especially today. Even “Little Boy” the first atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima, without testing. If this could be done in 1945, certainly it could be done today.
Today, there is no need to reinvent the wheel. There is a vast amount of declassified information about U.S. nuclear weapons development. North Korea and other nuclear weapon states are using modern 21st Century technology to develop their nuclear weapons program, and get help from each other and from China and Russia.
North Korea has already mastered miniaturization and is already armed with nuclear missiles.
In 2011, the Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, Lt. General Ronald Burgess, testified before the Senate Armed Services Committee that North Korea has weaponized its nuclear device into warheads for ballistic missiles. In 2009, European intelligence agencies headquartered in Brussels and supporting NATO concluded that North Korea has armed with nuclear warheads its Nodong missiles capable of striking Japan. The CIA’s top East Asia analyst publicly stated that North Korea had successfully miniaturized nuclear warheads for missile delivery in a 2008 interview.

North Korea’s Super-EMP

Summary of Dr. Pry’s statements…
The mainstream argument is that North Korea’s current “nuclear devices” are not a real threat because of their low explosive yield similar to the Hiroshima bomb compared with those within the U.S. arsenal and others, and that their delivery methods are not accurate enough to place them reliably on target of a major city. Here’s the thing though… North Korea is very happy with this misconception. Here’s why…
According to Dr. Pry, “In fact, almost certainly, North Korea now possesses a highly advanced third generation nuclear warhead that could destroy the United States with a single blow.”
(emphasis added)
In 2004, the Congressional Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) Commission was warned by a delegation of Russian generals that Russia had developed a “Super-EMP” nuclear warhead, and that design information for this weapon had leaked to North Korea.
A Super-EMP warhead is a nuclear weapon specially designed to produce an enormous burst of gamma rays that generates an extraordinarily powerful electromagnetic pulse, capable of destroying even the best protected electronics, thereby paralyzing military forces and blacking out power grids and collapsing critical infrastructures everywhere–across an entire nation the size of the United States.
Apparently, one of the signatures of a Super-EMP weapon is that it has a very low explosive yield, just several kilotons because the weapon is converting the energy of the nuclear warhead into gamma rays.
In 2004, the Russian generals told the EMP Commission that North Korea was getting help developing a Super-EMP nuclear weapon from contractors from Russia, China, Pakistan and elsewhere, and could probably test such a weapon “in a few years.” A few years later, in 2006, North Korea tested its mysterious “nuclear device” that produced an explosive yield of only several kilotons, and so was derided by the Western press as a failure–but hailed as a success by North Korea.
In 2012, a military commentator for the People’s Republic of China told a Hong Kong journal that North Korea has Super-EMP nuclear warheads.
One nuclear EMP warhead attack could collapse the national electric grid and other critical infrastructures–communications, transportation, banking and finance, food and water–that sustain modern civilization and the lives of millions.
A Super-EMP attack on the U.S. would cause much more damage than a primitive nuclear weapon, and will likely result in catastrophic consequences that will be irreversible. A Super-EMP attack would inflict maximum damage and virtually ensure a world without America.
Russia has something called the Fractional Orbital Bombardment System (FOBS), that would use an ICBM like a Space Launch Vehicle to put a nuclear warhead into orbit, like a satellite. They have apparently shared this with North Korea. Instead of using the ICBM to lob a warhead on a more accurate arcing ballistic trajectory, the FOBS would loft the warhead into a partial orbit. FOBS could reach any nation or threaten any target anywhere on Earth.
The missile test in December 2012, was actually a FOBS test.
Thus, North Korea already possesses an ICBM and poses a mortal nuclear threat to the United States, and to all nations on Earth–right now.
North Korea, during the successful test of its ICBM on December 12, 2012, orbited a satellite weighing 100 kilograms (about 200 pounds). One design of a Super-EMP warhead would be a modified neutron bomb, an Enhanced Radiation Warhead (ERW) because it produces not only many neutrons but also many gamma rays. Gamma rays cause the EMP effect. The EMP field is so large that detonating anywhere over the U.S. would have catastrophic consequences.
North Korea orbited its satellite around the Earth at an altitude of about 500 kilometers. The trajectory of North Korea’s satellite is no accident–they deliberately aimed for and achieved this orbit and altitude, as announced before their launch.
An ideal altitude for making an EMP attack that places the field over the entire lower 48 United States is… wait for it… 500km.
The primary purpose of FOBS is a surprise attack. The first warning of the attack would be ‘lights out’. North Korea and Iran have made clear in their threats that they wish to take down the United States. They perceive themselves to be at war with the U.S. and would like nothing more than to destroy the largest and most successful society on Earth.
Have you heard this information anywhere before? Probably not. These threats are manipulated and downplayed by our own government and their willing accomplices in the press and elsewhere.
The question is… Are you ready?
