Date: 3/24/2021
Activity: Hike to the Eibenberg (779 m, JN77JW, SOTA); Descent like ascent
Start and finish: Waidhofen an der Ybbs / Atschreith / parking lot at the hunting lodge or the chapel
Total duration: 4; 15 hours
Path: not signposted / marked forest roads, forest and meadow paths
Weather: very cloudy with a tendency to lighten, single-digit plus degrees, no wind
Amateur radio: Yaesu FT-65 with original helical antenna, max. 5 W FM at 2 m and 70 cm; ARoIP via mobile phone and Peanut app
QRV on the Eibenberg (779 m, JN77JW, SOTA): For a long time I call CQ on 145,500 MHz and various repeater frequencies in vain. Finally, Daniel, OE5HDX, takes pity on the Lichtenberg repeater; later attempts on a direct frequency unfortunately fail. - I then switch to Peanut, visit room DCS905A with good luck and am immediately met by Klaus, DC5QR; Jürgen, DD1QM; Peter, OE1PZC and Karl, OE5MXL, were warmly welcomed into their group.
Waidhofen an der Ybbs: Parking lot right next to the chapel in Atschreith. The mountain on the left is already the pre-summit of the Eibenberg.
Curvy it goes higher.
Left behind the building of the game feeding station ...
... I climb up through the forest to the ridge.
After a pre-summit and this outlook ...
... the steep final ascent follows.

A rootstock is used for sitting.
Nothing works on simplex frequencies; but on Peanut!
