240 feet from road to summit, +10 ft elevation
This is a short hike to a rocky knob on the continental divide.
From the Bernice Exit on I-15 (Exit 151) between Boulder and Butte, take the Boulder River Road west as follows:
0.0 Exit I-15 at Bernice
3.2 Turn right and cross the Boulder River, then continue westwardly.
10.1 Stay on the main road (left) at the Indian Creek turn off.
12.6 Turn off the road to the left on FS-659 as it angles down the steep hill.
13.5 FS-659 rejoins the main road to 4-Corners, continue south on FS-8444
15.2 Continue left (south) on FS-8444 at the “Y”.
18.4 Turn right (south) onto FS-78291 when the road crests out in a saddle.
20.1 Turn left (or park) at the junction with the forest road that goes to the summit.
20.2 There is a small parking area.
The road is suitable for most vehicles. The final 0.1 miles is through young, thick timber and will likely scratch up a full-sized vehicle. The hike to the summit is very short. There are minimal views.
