Whether it’s Unimogs, EarthCruisers, or fully built Land Cruisers, we feature a lot of beautiful overland vehicles on Expedition Portal. Unfortunately, most of them are well—expensive. So if you’re looking for a four-wheel drive with most of the comfort and capability of the larger rigs at a fraction of the price, this week’s classified ad is for you. It’s a 2010 Nissan Frontier Pro-4x equipped with a Flip Pac camper, drawer system, lift kit, and rear swing out for less than $20,000, and it only has 87,000 miles.
I love this rig for the same reason I love the Frontier in general: it’s simple, honest, effective, and affordable. We don’t have a massive list of parts to sort through in this article, because it only has what it needs and nothing more. So let’s take a look at what you get.
The base truck is a 2010 Nissan Frontier Pro-4x which comes equipped with a low-range transfer case and a rear differential lock. That has been improved with an Old Man Emu 2-inch lift kit for additional ground clearance and improved ride quality. This kit also provides enough room for the larger 33-inch all-terrain tires wrapped around the factory alloy wheels.
Then things get interesting with a color-matched Flip Pac camper equipped for any adventures you have in store. The floor is comprised of a truck vault system with deep drawers to keep your gear secure, dry, and organized on the go. A dual battery system has been added to power a fridge and any electronics you might need to charge, along with an inverter for laptops or other items that need to run on 110 volts. This is all topped off with a custom rear swing-out bumper that holds the second full-size spare tire. Although it isn’t mentioned in the advertisement, the camper does appear to have an awning installed as well, which is certainly a nice touch.
The seller states that they are the second owner and purchased the truck in stock condition at 36,000 miles. Since then the oil has been changed every 3,000 miles and all service has been completed at their local Nissan dealership. “[It] needs nothing. No accidents, no rust. Has had seat covers and weathertech floor mats since new so interior is practically perfect.”
