Summit:
6.0 Miles, +2,400 ft, - 120 ft
These instructions are from the trailhead that is open to full-sized vehicles July-1 to October-14. OHV’s that are less than 50-inches wide can drive to the summit from July-1 to September-7. The full-sized vehicle trailhead is suitable for must vehicles.
Take FS-1800 north from the East Side of Lincoln. Set the odometer to 0.0. Turn left at the hairpin (7.5 miles) onto FS-1821 (Open to Full-Sized vehicles July-1 to October-14). The parking area for full-sized vehicles (11.6 miles) is at a road junction in an open meadow. Hike north up the OHV trail and follow it 6.0 miles to the summit. The OHV trail is seldom rocky and would likely be suitable for mountain bikes, although it is steep in spots.
There is a staffed fire lookout tower at the summit that was constructed in the mid-1990’s. The summit has great views of the surrounding mountains, including Red Mountain (W7M/CL-001), the high point of Lewis and Clark County
